Counselling Approach

In person-centred therapy, each person is regarded as unique, like trees in a forest, or even the leaves from the same tree. Every one is subject to a myriad of factors and we all manifest differently. Being part of mother nature, people have an urge to thrive, no matter how difficult the circumstances. As a Buddhist, my inspiration is in the here and now and being present with you.

At this point in time, you may want to be supported, to be in a safe environment where you can work through the difficult thoughts and feelings that you are experiencing. As a counsellor, my approach is eclectic; evidence-based, person-centred and influenced by Buddhism and yoga philosophy. Depending on what arises in the course of our sessions, we might work together using modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, Narrative therapy and Somatic (body-awareness) practices. Some issues that we can collaborate on include: stress, anxiety, anger, depression, physical illness (including health issues/addiction), grief and loss, and relationships.

Fees
$125 per session. For new clients, I offer an introductory rate of 3 sessions for $300 (in-person only), valid for 6 months.  A lower rate is available for concession card holders. Sessions are charged by bank transfer/cash for in person sessions while a credit card is required for online sessions.

Spirituality
Being a dedicated yoga practitioner and explorer of spirituality for over 20 years, I have an interest in all aspects of spirituality. The foundation of my yoga practice is in Ashtanga Yoga.  I have experiential understanding of Hinduism through yoga and chanting/devotional songs; and shamanic healing through attending ceremonies in South America and in the Australian context. In recent years, I have worked as a volunteer in multi-faith spiritual care at hospitals. I am available if you are experiencing difficulties or intense experiences in your spiritual life. Perhaps you would like to reflect, integrate and create a sense of spaciousness around it, or find the expression of meaning in your experiences. I hope to assist you through respectful and empathic listening.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring parks with my dog, making music and watching movies.
